I. About us
Every child deserves a chance to grow up!
Macedonian Parent Association against Childhood Cancer and Leukemia "Butterfly" (Peperutka) was founded in 2002 by a group of parents facing bad conditions for treatment of this disease in the Republic of Macedonia. In 2003 the organization became legal entity and started its official work on December 30, 2003.
In 2005 The Macedonian Parent Association against Childhood Cancer and Leukemia "Butterfly" (Peperutka) became a full member of ICCCPO (The International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations).
Our mission is to offer the necessary aid to the parents when they fight the disease with their children, to help the children ill of different sorts of cancer.
All of the members of the organization are volunteers.
- Main goals of "Butterfly" (Peperutka) are:
- Aid and assistance to parents of children with cancer
- Improvement of the therapeutic treatment of children with cancer
- Purchase of medical equipment for the Oncology Department in the Children’s Hospital in Skopje
- Cooperation with expert organizations from the field
- Cooperation with medical experts from the European countries
II. Activities
- During the last few years:
- We have managed to provide the necessary medications;
- We have purchased of equipment for improvement of diagnostics;
- We have undertaken the necessary construction works to improve the conditions for children’s stay in the Oncology Department in the Children’s Hospital in Skopje;
- We have adapted the playroom, we have equipped a kitchen, where the parents can at any time prepare the food that the child wants;
- We have organized a visit of consultant-instructor oncologist from Germany;
- We have provided translation and publishing of appropriate printed materials (books, brochures);
- We have prepared two documentary films, in order to provide parents with better information, etc.
- Over 50 children were given financial help by "Butterfly" (Peperutka).
In 2005 The Macedonian Parent Association against Childhood Cancer and Leukemia "Butterfly" (Peperutka) was presented by MCIC the award for building relations, networks, exchanges and communication between the organizations in the civil society sector with the state and private sector in the Republic of Macedonia. Since 2005 The Macedonian Parent Association against Childhood Cancer and Leukemia "Butterfly" (Peperutka) has regularly taken a part at the regional meetings (Belgrade, Split and Sarajevo) of the Southeastern Europe parent organizations against childhood cancer.
In Skopje 2009 the Association "Butterfly" (Peperutka) will be a host of the 4th regional meeting of the above mentioned organizations.
