[Bosanski]Currently, there are two parents assotiations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, one from Sarajevo and the other one from Tuzla.
Sarajevo
Association "The heart for the kids with cancer in FBIH" has been founded in April 2003 based on initiative of the parents and friends of the cancer sick children who were treated at the Pediatric Clinic Koševo Hospital in Sarajevo. We have to underline the unselfish help of the Associations of the same name from Luxembourg and Mrs. Marie Marthe Bruck-Clees and Mr. Francois Schoentgeb who put a side certain amount of financial means for the start up of our Association and for what we are immeasurable grateful.
First and basic goal of the Association was how to solve the problem in regards taking abroad/outside of BiH for the further treatment. It has been drastically increased number of children with leukemia and other malignities during the years. These kids, who needs transplantation of body pith, can win only if they are send to one of European clinics where would be done the transplantation of body pith. We were succeeded, and the children who cannot be heal in our country and there is a necessary urgent intervention abroad, has been transferred abroad by help of our government.
Our Association has being financed exclusively through the donations of human people, personal actions.
Our priority is to encourage the parents, help them to over come the hardest moments in their lives. To be able to realize that, the Association has the goal and the task to, with the help of experts, educate the parents how to find the way to, in most easiest way, overcome the period when their child is sick and all of it not only the benefit not only the sick child but the whole family.
Since the October 2003, our Association is the full member of ICCCPO with active involvement on Congress of ICCCPO and coordination of contacts with other members. We have a very good cooperation with the Association from Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia and Slovenia. We have also and excellent cooperation with the media who helps us in two ways: education and animation of the public in regards the problems we are facing within our work.
Currently, we are respective association with excellent contact with media. We are planning to send our kids to the see in June this year, also there is an ongoing project called "Back to the school".

Tuzla
The "Pipol" association in Tuzla has more than 60 members, with most of them also being members of the "Heart for Children" in Sarajevo. The "Pipol" association was founded in Tuzla in December 2006. The reason for forming the association was to raise the awareness with the local government of the need to create the Hematooncology unit at the Children’s Hospital in Tuzla. The construction of the Hematooncology unit has already begun as well as the additional education for the unit’s doctors that are ready to face this challenge. The doctor’s have our utmost support.
Every year about ten children in this area gets diagnosed with the cancer, mostly different types and subtypes of Leukemia. The Hematooncology department is giving treatment to all children whether they can be cured, or have had a transplantation in a different country thanks to the humanitarian donations and now need further care, or children who have had a relapse and the Sarajevo Hospital has released them to the care of the Tuzla hospital. Moreover, according to the medical protocol, the medical treatment doesn’t comprise only of the intensive hospital treatment.
Work at the association is strictly on voluntary bases. The most active members are parents of children already cured from cancer who are trying to help others with their experience and compassion. Our future activities will be similar to what we do now. We are concentrating on creating the best possible conditions for children who are currently undergoing treatment and those already diagnosed with cancer. The program focuses on present and the future. With the future we mean creating the donor bank needed for all citizens in B&H, creating better hospitals and specialized units for Hematoonkology at the Pediatric hospital. And when we talk about the present, we are trying to solve the existing problems and help children currently undergoing the treatment because we can’t just erase or leave our children. They are part of us, our present and our future.
